Energy Efficient
Fluid Power Systems

Every day I work to support the green transition by enabling sustainable use of our limited energy resources. When using energy, we must use it wisely for reel work and not for system losses. I work to increase energy efficiency of power transmission systems, especially fluid power and mechatronic systems.

Through teaching and knowledge sharing I promote energy efficient fluid power technologies. In my research I develop technologies that significantly improves energy efficiency of fluid power / hydraulic and mechatronic systems.

As researcher and educator at AAU Energy at Aalborg University, conducting research and sharing knowledge is my “thing”.

I feel that teaching engineering students is my largest contribution in enabling the green transition. I truly believe that the engineers we educate are highly motivated and qualified to take on the task of developing the technologies that will bridge the cap to a green future. I believe that learning is based on the students being active in a wide range of learning activities and not the lecturing of a professor. I continuously develop my teaching methods and material. In 2023 I published the lecture note, “Fluid Power Systems, A Lecture Note in Modelling, Analysis and Control”, which is the foundation in a course I facilitated at AAU Energy. The course builds on a flipped learning approach, +50 topics specific videos, virtual laboratory exercises and laboratory experiments.

In research, my method of choice is physics-based modelling, where models are utilized for analysis and evaluation of novel components and systems. When feasible the model-based evaluation is verified and confirmed with physical experiments in our laboratory or at our industry partners’ facilities. I focus on research projects which I feel have potential to bring the world closer to a green future in a foreseeable time frame.
