Research Mission

Full Bridge oscillation Transformer

Together with Per Johansen I am leading the development of a novel fluid power Full Bridge oscillation Transformer(FBoT) technology that will increase the energy efficiency, enable energy recovery, and simplify configuration of fluid power systems. Currently the FBoT InnoX is tested in an electrical mini loader where it drives the boom movement. The FBoT InnoX is the second ever made FBoT and is used to validate the modelled energy efficiencies and physically prove the feasibility of the new technology. The FBoT technology is a digital linear transformer technology which enables; throttle free control of actuators, energy recovery and furthermore it has the ability to boost to a higher pressure level than what is supplied.

The FBoT research team is led by Per Johansen and Anders Hedegaard Hansen.

The FBoT technology is invented by Per and Anders and is owned by Aalborg University.

Digital Fluid Power in
Wave Energy Converters

All the way back to the start of my PhD studies in 2011 I have worked in the field of digital fluid power system for wave energy converters. In cooperation with Wave Star ApS I initiated my studies on optimization of a digital fluid power PTO system for a wave energy converter. Currently I work together with Floating Power Plant A/S. on optimizing the system design and the wave power extraction algorithms for the digital fluid power PTO system. The FPP wave energy converters are located at the based of a floating wind turbine platform, see the picture. Currently my research focus in the PTO TWIN project is on improving energy production by optimizing the control algorithms known as the Wave Power Extraction Algorithms.
